These require a memory card to place the hacked save game and a boot.dol converted to .gci format. Swiss is distributed as a bootable GCI. Need the help of an already homebrew able Gamecube, or a Wii (while RVL-001 is the easiest, RVL-101 and RVL-201 can have their GameCube ports soldered back in[1]), modded or unmodded to first put such files on memcard.

I don't suppose anyone has asked these noble heroes if they could share their save file? I'd ask them but I'd want to direct them to this board to show that there's a genuine need for this type of save file. I don't know how to direct people on other boards to this board so they can see. May someone please ask and direct them here? O_o

The second ad was a rare case of the Japanese and American ads being almost the same. The Japanese version, seen above, features a young man playing a Gamecube surrounded by futuristic floating screens showcasing F-Zero GX. Like the heart rate commercial, the pace picks up as the man continues to play and sweat. The ad ends with a quick shot of the Gamecube memory card being removed and placed into the F-Zero AX arcade machine, showcasing the unique ability to share save files between platforms.

Sorta. All memory cards work on all machines, but most games will 'format' the card to one region or the other and won't save onto a card formatted to another region unless you go into the system menu and wipe the card first. I believe there were a few games that did this on their own (deleting your save files from one region to make a save file for the other without really telling you.Essentially, if you had a way to play multiple regions, you kept a small memory card tagged for the other region.

Remnants of Ura Zelda's 64DD origins still remain in Ocarina of Time. Several error messages exist in the game's data regarding wrong disks being inserted. A "Disk" tag can also be made to appear in the title screen by modifying the RAM addresses of the game. A save file can also be flagged as a "Disk" save and a "Disk" icon will appear next to the save file on the file select screen. The file will be permanently grayed out and inaccessible, unless the game is tricked into thinking the expansion disk is inserted. Attempting to open the file afterwards will crash the game, presumably due to the game trying to load non-existent files.[9]

This page lists devices that allow the backup and restoration of save files on original cartridges. Using these, certain runs become easier to run and to improve later, ie. segmented runs, ng+ runs. Be noted that not all games will be compatible with these devices.

The devices may perform other functions besides managing save files. Since there is a rule about console/game modification, while speedrunning (recording a video), players should not use these devices, or have them connected to the console/game cartridge. Their use should be limited to managing save files before starting and after finishing a segment.

Retro Flash Programmer has many functions, one of them managing cart saves. Some games may not be supported but may be added after request.SNES Retro Flash Programmer: Developer's StoreRetrode is a device that allows to upload an download save files from SNES carts among others functions. Seems to be in development.Retrode: Developer's Store Compatibility

Allows to backup save files from the cartridge to the N64's Controller Pak. So they can be extracted with DexDrive. Some games are not supported (Flash based).Gameshark v3.2? (out of production, ebay)

Just backup your saves to the SD card. Saves appear in the /private/wii/apps/ folder. The games are saved by their 4 letter serial. For example, Zelda: Twilight Princess in the US is RZDE. The first letter is the type of game, the last is the region (J for Japan, E for the US, P for PAL). Disc based games are imprinted on the disc and are almost always RXXX, though a couple begin with S. For WiiWare/VC games, you can look it up at a place like GBATemp or GameFAQs.Note that Nintendo locks the save file of any game that goes online, like Brawl. There's two ways to get around this. One is to use the Wii Homebrews Save Installer and Save Extractor. The other is to install Preloader onto your Wii, then via the hacks.ini file turn on the option for "Remove NoCopy Protection". The later is much more convenient, and is recommended over Save Installer/Extractor. Plus Preloader has a ton more good features for you to use.Preloader WiiBrew info on Preloader.

Insert the patched GBAbackuptool.nds and other files from GBA backup tool.zip into the root of the micro SD card.Run the system and make a backup of a GBA save game. Afterwards, turn it off, connect it to a PC/Mac and look at the new GBA backup folder, that is the directory to import special GBA.Sav files of various games from the internet. Put those .sav files into the folder, connect the micro SD card into the Action Replay DSi and import your special saves into your GBA cart.

If you have a Slot-2 flash cart (such as the M3 Perfect), you can use the NDS Backup Tool for backing up most save files. There's a few that won't work, such as Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. It's a software program that runs from the Slot-2 cart and can backup/restore save files. This homebrew can be downloaded here.

By overwritting an existing save ingame it creates a new gci file that gives the error message above that it couldn't be loaded because they have the same internal name.LPFaint99LPFaint99 commented 4 hours ago

kostamarino: having 128 should've triggered a panic alert, and we should leave a few slots open for the game, any idea a good number of open spaces to leave as potential new saves that a game might addex: animal crossings uses 3 files iirctimesplitters 2 can use an arbitrary number of course limited by the 127 files/card

the open spots will be a balance, I don't want to hard code which games look for specific other games savesso just the first 127/121/107 saves (alphabetical by filename) would be loadedbut you also need to leave some room if you are playing a new game with no existing save, or a game (like TS2) that can create an arbitrary number of new profiles (each taking one of the save spots 2ff7e9595c
